Every year, º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ holds a volunteering event called the 'º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ Cares Day of Action.' This year, the event will take place on Saturday, September 23 with non-profit organizations around Fredericton.

º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ Cares is a meaningful way for both new and returning students to connect with the Fredericton community and gain volunteering and hands-on experience.

º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ Cares prioritizes local support while also offering students ways to connect with peers who are passionate about important causes. The event helps foster a relationship between learning and volunteering, and many of our event partners offer the chance to continue volunteering in a more consistent capacity.

Past issues addressed during º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ Cares include poverty, food security, environmental preservation, housing, violence prevention, youth health, and community building.

This year’s event is planned to be fully in-person. Students will spend approximately two to three hours working with their assigned community organization and then conclude with a group reflection event on campus. Food and snacks will be provided for the day for all º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½dents attending.

Volunteering at this event counts as volunteer hours towards the community engagement portion of º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½’s Certificate in Experiential Learning & Community Engagement.
