After completing º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½'s Bachelor of Education, Brent Walker is prepared to begin his teaching career in New Brunswick.   

 

Walker came to St. Thomas after earning degrees in science and marine studies and teaching internationally. His field placements at the middle and high school levels—where he taught mathematics in French Immersion—provided invaluable classroom experience.  

 

"The faculty members are all experienced educators who care about building leaders and developing everyone to be the best version of themselves," said Walker, who is originally from Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. 

 

"The course schedule replicates the demands that educators have to be ready for, and the condensed nature of the program prepares students well."  

 

Walker also appreciated the opportunity to broaden his teaching skillset through coursework outside his specialization.   

 

"Beyond core requirements, the program lets you take courses in other areas you might be interested in, which is beneficial to diversify your skillset and explore opportunities," he said.  

 

Walker’s advice for future students is to embrace the experiences they bring with them to the program.

 

"My cohort was made up of people with a rich range of prior life experiences, and we all had something unique and meaningful to contribute,” he said.
